For software installation, feel free to install whatever you like.
I recommend the Ninite tool. This tool allows you to install a host of software simultaneously and automatically, considerably reducing the time spent setting up your environment.
Personally, I recommend the following tools (available on Ninite):
📄 LibreOffice, for a suite of open-source office software (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint...) free for life.
📰 SumatraPDF, a free, extremely lightweight, open-source PDF reader.
💻 Visual Studio Code, a world-renowned, open-source, lightweight and highly modular code editor.
🚨 VLC, a world wide famous, open-source video and music player.
🔎 Everything, software that lets you search for any file or folder on Windows instantly (yes, really).
📁 7zip, an open-source utility for compressing and decompressing files and folders.
🗑️ Revo Uninstaller Pro, a powerful uninstaller to remove all dependencies and data from uninstalled software.
🧹 CCleaner, software to clean Windows, software, crashes and registries properly.
This list is not exhaustive, of course, but it's well worth a look! They are by no means compulsory, and will in no way affect your experience of KJOS.
Now that installation is complete, all that's left to do is install the few missing software applications on Ninite, connect to the various application accounts and retrieve/transfer your data.
